Japan's Happiness to disband in September
7 Jun – Japanese girl group Happiness will be disbanding this year after 15 years together.
The news was announced by the group on their agency LDH's website, stating, "We would like to inform you that Happiness will disband on 26 September 2023. In the midst of the pandemic that prevented them from doing what they wanted to do, each member began to think deeply about their future activities and their own lives."
"The group had a lot of discussions, and while the members shared a strong feeling that they love Happiness and want to cherish the fans who supported them, there were times when they had conflicting opinions, but in the end, everyone came to the conclusion that the best option would be to disband," the statement added.
It was also revealed that the group will be holding fan meetings in four cities from the second half of June to early August, with the last live performance to be on 26 September.
Making their appearance as backup dancers to EXILE in 2008, the group made their first debut as performers in 2011 with their single, "Kiss Me". After changing several members for the past few years, the final line-up consisted of Sayaka, Kaede, Karen Fujii, Miyuu, and Ruri Kawamoto.
