James Reid excited about "Pedro Penduko"

The actor says he feels honoured to be the inspiration for the upcoming reimagining of the superhero

16 Aug - Actor James Reid recently confirmed that he has been offered the titular role in Dan Villegas' upcoming project, the re-imagining of the comic book hero, "Pedro Penduko".

As reported on PEP, the actor, who appeared at the History Con 2017 held at the World Trade Centre Manila recently, admitted that he is happy to be the inspiration for the modern look of Pedro Penduko.

"I have read the [comic] and it's really different. It's very flattering and cool. I hope I can do justice to the character," he said.

In the original comics by Francisco Coching, Pedro Penduko is regarded as a superhero who fights off evil forces using his magic amulet. However, in the re-imagining, the next "Pedro" will be a wimpy teen named Peter Harris raised in the United States.

Other stars who played the role in the past include Ramon Zamora in "Ang Mahiwagang Daigdig ni Pedro Penduko", as well as Janno Gibbs, who played the role twice in "Ang Pagbabalik ng Pedro Penduko" and "Pedro Penduko Episode II: The Return of the Comeback".

The upcoming "Pedro Penduko" movie is tentatively scheduled to be released in March 2018.
