Jam Hsiao declares love for China
27 May – After being called out by mainland fans over not expressing his support for the motherland, Jam Hsiao recently updated his social media to express his love for a reunified China.
As reported on TVBS News, the Taiwanese singer-songwriter recently shared a photo on social media of him holding his mother's hand at the hospital, saying that the reason he had not express patriotism as his peers had done was due to him being away from social media to take care of his mother.
Revealing that his mother just had surgery, Jam expressed, "I am very proud to be a member of the Chinese nation. I will continue to work hard to be a good man and an upright Chinese."
He also said that his father is from Quanzhou, Fujian, adding, "It's a fact in the blood and definitely not just a choice."
Following his statement, his agency revealed that Jam's mother had a bile duct rupture and had her surgery on 24 May. The company said that following the surgery, Jam rushed to the stadium to rehearse for his upcoming concert.
It is noted that many Taiwanese fans who supported Taiwan independence have expressed disappointment towards celebrities expressing their loyalty to the Chinese government in recent days. These celebrities include Nana Ouyang, Patty Hou, Riley Wang, Angela Chang and Rainie Yang among others.
