Jake Zyrus claims mum is abusive in new book
25 Sep – Singer Jake Zyrus, formerly known as Charice Pempengco, has accused his mother Raquel of abusing him in his new book, "I Am Jake".
As reported on PEP, in chapter two of his new book which he titled "Mommy Dearest", he began his writing by saying that he doesn't know his own mother.
Jake stated that Raquel left home with her two kids in the past because of the abuses she received from her own mother Tess, but ended up becoming everything that her mother was.
Claiming that Raquel would use shoes, the buckle part of the belt, and broomsticks to hit him, he stated, "This is the reason why my scalp is covered with scars that have formed bumps and valleys on my head."
Jake also stated that he and his friends who know the whole story would refer to Raquel as the "evil queen", but stressed that he could never hate her.
"[...] despite her darkness, there is some light in her. Her good side needs certain conditions to come out, though," he added.
In another passage, he claimed that Raquel was his secret antagonist, that she has many Instagram accounts that was used to leave rude comments on his pictures back when he was still transitioning.
This is not the first time Jake has accused Raquel of being a bad mother. Last year, an episode of "Maalaala Mo Kaya" based on his story depicted Raquel (played by Dina Bonnevie) as a cruel mother.
