Jacky Wu on son's drug arrest: I failed as a father

28 Dec – TV personality Jacky Wu recently expressed his regret over son Rick Wu yet again making headlines for the wrong reason.

As reported on HK01, on 26 December, the son of the Taiwanese variety show king was released on bail after he was first apprehended by the police for allegedly smoking marijuana.

Jacky, who addressed the issue on social media recently, stated that he has failed as a father for not teaching his son properly.

"This is our responsibility as parents. It is part of the law and the most basic standard of morality. I'd implore the judge to render him a heavy punishment," he wrote. "The most unforgivable mistake is stupidity. I'm embarrassed as a father, and can't shirk the blame."

Rick was arrested outside the RUFF Nightclub in Taipei's Xinyi District and taken to the Taipei District Prosecutor's Office after the officers on patrol smelled marijuana near the location and found him with a suspicious-looking cigarette.

The singer, whose stage name is LucyPIE, was originally scheduled to promote his new album on 29 December, but the said event has now been cancelled.

This is not the first time that Rick made the news. Back in 2018, he was fined NTD 500,000 for making a joke about bombing Taipei City Hall if his girlfriend does not recover from an illness.
