Jackie Chan to lead a slew of Chinese talents in "Wish Dragon"

Jackie Chan is the forefront of the many Chinese talents in the upcoming "Wish Dragon".

24 Apr – Chinese visual effects and animation company, Base FX, is making its first feature movie and it has recruited a major Chinese action star along with some of Hollywood's top Chinese actors and actresses.

Jackie Chan will lead the cast of "Wish Dragon", a 3D animated movie that is a retelling of the Genie in a bottle Middle Eastern folk tale from "One Thousand And One Nights" but with a Chinese twist, as reported by Deadline.

Aside from Chan, other names included in the movie are Bobby Lee ("Splitting Up Together"), Constance Wu ("Fresh Off The Boat"), Jimmy O. Yang ("Silicon Valley"), Jimmy Wong ("The Circle"), John Cho ("Star Trek" reboot series), Natasha Liu Bordizzo ("The Greatest Showman"), Nico Santos ("Superstore"), and Will Yun Lee ("Rampage").

"Wish Dragon" will be directed by Chris Appelhans which will be his first feature movie ever after working in the art department for movies like "Puss In Boots" and "The Princess And The Frog".

"Wish Dragon" aims to bring Chinese culture through an animated feature.

Chan is no stranger to voice acting as he has lent his voice in such movies as "The Lego Ninjago Movie", "The Nut Job 2: Nutty By Nature" and the "Kung Fu Panda" trilogy.

The Hong Kong-born actor will be seen in "Viy 2: Journey To China" next which pairs him up with Arnold Schwarzenegger.

"Wish Dragon" is still in early development but is planning for a 2019 international release date.
