SINGAPORE — Director Jack Neo will be releasing a movie entitled “King of Musang King” (猫山王中王), named after a highly popular variety of durians, next Chinese New Year (CNY).

In a post on Facebook, Neo’s J Team Productions and mm2 Entertainment announced on Thursday (8 September) that the production of the movie has begun.

Neo will be starring again alongside fellow veteran actors Mark Lee and Henry Thia – the trio most famously acted in the hit movies “Money No Enough” in 1998 and “Money No Enough 2” in 2008.

The other actors in “King of Musang King” are Golden Horse Award winner Yeo Yann Yann, Glenn Yong, and Malaysian influencer Angeline Teoh.

According to the Facebook post, the movie plot revolves around Jin Shui (Lee), his Malaysian wife Mei Lian (Yeo), and her childhood friend Mao Shan (Neo). Mei Lian takes care of a durian plantation and her three children after being dumped by Jin Shui for a Vietnamese woman. She later develops feelings for Mao Shan.

Neo released his previous CNY movie “Ah Girls Go Army” on 1 February, which had garnered more than $2 million as of 17 February. The movie sequel “Ah Girls Go Army Again” was released on 16 June.
