Iza Calzado aims MMFF for new movie
23 May – Iza Calzado recently revealed that she will be producing her upcoming new movie, "Culion".
As reported on Push, the actress, who has the experience of producing the digital film, "Mystified" earlier this year, shared that the upcoming project is by the award-winning writer, Ricky Lee and centres on a community in Palawan of a former leper colony.
"I first got wind of the story because of [producer] Shandii and then at Ricky Lee's birthday. I learned that Sir Ricky was writing a role for me, with me in mind," she said.
Starring in the movie as well, Calzado revealed that she will be playing the role of Anna, a leper who wants to get out of Culion and find a cure for herself.
"You will see that she is hopeful that they will all be healed someday, and she goes through this journey. She doesn't want to get attached to anyone emotionally because she believes that there will be life after Culion," she narrated.
Although there is no exact date set for the project, the actress said that she would like the movie to be included in this year's Metro Manila Film Festival.
