Ivy Chao denies accusing Michael Lai of being a two-timer
13 May – Online entrepreneur and Michael Lai's ex-wife Ivy Chao has recently denied that she has written a message on Weibo about the divorce between the latter and Hong Kong singer Gillian Chung.
The issue sparked when a Weibo account using her Instagram handle "weicutey" posted a message shortly after the news of the divorce made headlines, tagging Gillian and writing, "I can't bear when men cheated. It took a long time to get out of this failed marriage."
The post sparked speculations that the Taiwanese doctor had been cheating on Ivy in the past and had probably done so with Gillian as well.
However, Ivy took to Instagram to clarify herself, saying that there has been a fake Ivy Chao Weibo account using her photo to deceive others.
"Spent a lot of time logging into Weibo in the morning. Thank you for the many people who specifically wrote comments to remind me. In fact, the fake account on Weibo has been posing as me for a long time. I heard that the person has also scammed people's money before," she wrote.
Ivy also stated that she has already reported the account to Weibo, but was told she needed relevant evidence to prove that the account was fake.
"Friends who know the truth, please help me report [the account]," she added.
Ivy also revealed that her real Weibo account uses the name IvyChaoTw, and is not the same as her Instagram handle.
As for the issue surrounding Michael and Gillian's divorce, Ivy wrote, "No one can interfere with other's happiness. I hope everybody is okay."
