Imelda Papin's daughter defends singer over "Iisang Dagat" issue
30 Apr – Imelda Papin's daughter recently came to her defence over the backlash regarding the singer's new song, "Iisang Dagat".
As reported on ABS-CBN, Maffi Papin, whose singer mother was one of the artistes who recorded the song with several other performers from the Philippines and China, took to social media to express her support for the singer.
She wrote, "We Love the Philippines and the Filipino people ! My Mom Imelda Papin has the purest of heart and intentions ! We have helped, served and saved countless numbers of lives of our kababayans."
"The Philippines belongs to the Filipino people! May God Bless us all, heal this entire world and shower us with all the Love in this world!" she added.
Earlier this week, Papin was indirectly blasted by netizens over the release of the said song, which was presented as a call for unity during the pandemic. Many regarded the song as political propaganda to distract Filipinos from China's aggression in claiming sovereignty over the West Philippine Sea.
