IM Global China Launches New Venture, Go Global

IM Global China has announced the launch of Go Global, a new venture that aims to increase the exposure of Chinese cinema worldwide while also representing non-Chinese films inside the middle kingdom. Led by Clément Magar, the Go Global team will be based in Beijing and will offer a range of services to local producers, financiers and talent including festival strategy, festival booking, festival media promotion and event production. The new concern will also take advantage of the distribution network and experience of IM Global China’s parent company, LA-based IM Global, and will expand IM Global’s existing China development strategy.

Go Global’s inaugural activities will begin at the Venice International Film Festival where it will be an official sponsor of Bridging the Dragon, which brings Chinese and European filmmakers together. Go Global serve as press agent for Coffee, the first Chinese-Italian co-production selected as part of the Venice Days section of the Festival.

Established in 2013, IM Global’s Beijing office has handled international distribution in partnerships with local studios on such films as The Mermaid, Mojin: The Lost Legend, Mr. Six and Breakup Buddies. These films have collectively grossed more than $1 billion worldwide. A majority ownership in IM Global was acquired in June, 2016 by L.A. and Shanghai-based Tang Media Partners. TMP and IM Global have also partnered with Tencent for a joint television production and distribution venture operating under the IM Global Television banner.
