It’s no secret that 2024 has been a banner year for Hyatt Hotels & Resorts. But it seems Hyatt has no plans to slow its luxury roll — at this year’s ILTM Cannes (the world’s premier travel trade show), the company announced its intent to open 50 more luxury hotels by 2026.

Over the past 12 months, the hospitality giant has opened 28 upscale hotels, including several hotly anticipated properties such as the Park Hyatt London River Thames, Thompson Palm Springs, and Maison Metier in New Orleans. In October, Hyatt purchased the Standard International brand, including its the more eclectic Bunkhouse and new-to-the-scene StandardX.

“It's been a strong year for the Europe, Africa, and Middle East region, with luxury and lifestyle segments driving this success,” Javier Águila, Hyatt group president, EAME, said in a press release obtained by Travel + Leisure. “Our future in these highly sought-after segments looks brighter than ever." Hyatt is well-positioned to answer the surging demand; it acquired curated travel booking site Mr and Mrs Smith last year.

Hyatt plans to divide its hotels into two specific categories: the “Luxury Portfolio” and the “Lifestyle Portfolio.” The luxury portfolio will focus on ultra-sumptuous properties intended for “luxury seekers who delight in the rare and thoughtfully curated,” per its website. The lifestyle portfolio will lean into the hip, culture-focused properties that travelers might find in Hyatt's Unbound Collection.

Hyatt enthusiasts have several openings across the globe to look forward to including Andaz Miami Beach (March 2025); Park Hyatt's debut in Mexico with Park Hyatt Los Cabos at Cabo del Sol (August 2025); and Hotel La Compañía del Valle, an "art and wellness house" opening in Panama in early 2025. Its wellness-focused brand Miraval will make its international debut with Miraval, The Red Sea in fall 2025 on Saudi Arabia’s Shura Island.

“We don’t take for granted that we are the brand of choice for high-end travelers,” said Crystal Thomas, Hyatt’s vice president of lifestyle and luxury brands, in the same press release. “This trust drives us to constantly explore new and innovative ways to deliver unparalleled and unique experiences that exceed guest expectations."
