Hwang Dong-hyuk gets more nervous as "Squid Game 2" nears airing date

15 Nov - "Squid Game" showrunner Hwang Dong-hyuk recently admitted to be quite nervous about finally airing the second season of the hit Netflix series. "Squid Game 2" will be launched on 26 December.

The South Korean director, who spoke to the media at the promotional event of the upcoming series, said that he still can't believe that he has achieved such a result so quickly and to be back in the world of "Squid Game".

"Frankly speaking, the closer it gets to the streaming date, the more nervous I get. I wonder how the audience will react. But no matter what, I will do my best to bring another exciting journey. What I am doing now is waiting. I hope that the audience will see the results of our entire team's hard work," he said.

Hwang also admitted that the most difficult part of writing the script for the second season was that it has to satisfy the audiences' curiosity.

"In the first season, everyone was a 'new' contestant and everything was fresh. Now the audience knows what the 'Squid Game' is. I have to make sure that every game and every plot has a twist and can satisfy the audience's expectations," he said.

He said that the second season will explore more characters' background stories and emotional entanglements, and will also add more surprising plot developments and twists.

In addition to the original cast of Lee Jung-jae and Lee Byung-hun, there are also Kang Ha-na, Park Sung-hoon, Im Si-wan, Park Kyu-young, Lee Jin-woo, TOP, Cho Yu-ri, Noh Jae-won, Won Ji-an and many more.
