Huang Pin Yuan and wife separates

11 Jul – It was reported that Taiwanese singer-songwriter Huang Pin Yuan and his wife have ended their marriage after 17 years.

According to Sina, on 3 July, Huang and his wife Mi Er were seen at the Household Registration Office to finalise their divorce papers. The former husband and wife treated each other like strangers throughout the process and only talked about official matters.

The two of them were later seen exiting the office with two purple booklets, known to be a guidebook for divorced couples given by the Mayor.

When asked about his divorce, the 45-year-old confirmed the news, "It's true, although I had a tough time signing the papers."

Previously, Huang was involved in a scandal when he was caught visiting a motel with a 19-year-old model named Yang Jia Xin, whom he later stressed to be his cousin and that he had brought her to the motel to meet a director and producer. When asked if his divorce was caused by the scandal, Huang stressed, "Don't ever believe in those rumours. We have not been in touch for a year. My wife and I had a mutual agreement to end the marriage."

He blamed his career as the cause of their separation, saying, "In order to give my family a better life, I spent more time with work and neglected her feelings."

Huang also does not rule out the possibility of reconciling with his ex-wife in the future.
