Huang An defends his stance on flag-waving issue

18 Jan - Pro-China Taiwanese singer Huang An, who is currently under fire for 'bullying' 16-year-old singer and TWICE member, Chou Tzuyu, over the issue of her waving the Taiwan flag, denied that he was the culprit in the whole issue that has now attracted global attention.

According to Focus Taiwan, on 17 January, following verbal attacks from Netizens, the 53-year-old singer wrote on his Weibo that he will explain the whole story of the incident and clarify his position.

Scoffing the idea that he has influenced Taiwan's election because of the recent issue, Huang An stated previously that he didn't associate flag-waving with Taiwan independence, but what the person who was waving the flag stood for.

He stressed that pro-Taiwan Independence media have been using the issue to provoke Chinese people, and that the 16-year-old was also working with them.

Meanwhile, pro-independence Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) presidential candidate Tsai Ing-wen has recently been elected Taiwan's first female president, beating pro-China Kuomintang Party (KMT) representative, Eric Chu.
