How Hong Huifang and Zheng Geping avoided big fights in 30 years of marriage

Local celebrity power couple Hong Huifang and Zheng Geping spoke to Shin Min Daily News about their 30th wedding anniversary and revealed that they’ve yet to have a big fight in their time together.
In an article published on Monday (4 Sept), Zheng, 59, said that they usually are in conflict over the kids, but emphasised that they “really haven’t had a big fight before”.
Tips for married couples
As for their tips to maintaining a harmonious marriage all this time, Zheng replied that it’s about being accommodating, accepting, and not magnifying your partner’s flaws.
Hong, 62, agreed and added that when a couple argues, the most important thing is not to disrupt the harmony between them.
Zheng said, “As men, we must learn how to tolerate. Normally, I’ll humble myself first and let Huifang cool down before we talk it out. To me, if the wife is happy, the entire family will be happy.”
Both Zheng and Hong felt that 30 years passed in the blink of an eye as the latter reflected on the evolution of their relationship.
“We went from being head over heels in love to marriage to seeing our kids become adults, it feels like we went from love to kinship. Now, we have a partner by our side, our kids are grown up, so this partner and I can travel in the future,” she said.
Hong Huifang, Zheng Geping dated in secret
Hong also revealed that they dated in secret in the past as people didn’t look kindly on their relationship. When they announced their wedding, people even asked when they were going to get divorced.
But, this couple is definitely getting the last laugh as their relationship has remained an exemplary one.
In their 30 years together, Zheng has never had a scandal, and he attributed it to the fact that he’s not a playboy.
Let’s not forget that he definitely got a lot more attention ever since he decided to get ripped, thus making him a ‘hunkle’.
Hong also previously admitted that she’s not a fan of his muscular physique, and joked that it’s better for the fans, who now have “eye candy”.
Zheng told Shin Min, “Actually, everyone knows that my relationship with Huifang is very good. Everyone respects her. Over the years, we’ve treated the artistes in showbiz as our family and will invite them to our home as guests. This way, we can avoid unnecessary misunderstandings.”
Hong added that she has eyes on the ground so she’ll be “notified immediately” if anything happens.
The most important thing between a couple is trust, she pointed out.
She said, “Besides, local showbiz is so small that there aren’t any secrets.”
