Homegrown jewellery Risis reinvents itself with 5 new collections by local tastemakers
What comes to mind when you think of Singapore and orchids? Besides Tiger Beer’s limited-edition Orchid Brew, the first thought has got to be Risis – a local-born jewellery brand. If you think Risis caters only to tourists looking for an exquisite souvenir, think again. A proud export of our little red dot, Risis goes beyond a must-have souvenir for travellers; it's also considered a coveted brand amongst those who appreciate handcrafted ornaments. Besides yellow gold, Risis also crafts with rose gold, silver, crystals and precious gems.
It all started 46 years ago, in 1976. A local scientist discovered the unique process of encapsulating natural orchids in gold. Since then, the brand has become synonymous with our nation’s progress and desire to be the best we can be. Today, Risis artisans have moved beyond jewellery, exploring sculptures and lifestyle artefacts.

The Risis Remix
Not one to rest on its laurels even during the pandemic, Risis reinvented the brand philosophy becoming more inclusive and representative of the different facets of women today. Notably, at the height of the pandemic, the brand worked with four local style makers – Laichan, Lingwu, Stolen and Triologie – to come up with Risis’ first seasonal collection for Spring/Summer 2022 – a markedly different take from the usual Risis classic styles.
Inspired by four iconic Risis signature orchids species, each collection has its distinctive symbolism. For example, the Phalaenopsis Cornu Cervi Orchid embodies creativity and adventure, the Vanda Limbata Orchid radiates sophistication, and the Vanda Miss Joaquim Orchid exalts femininity. At the same time, the Ascocenda Sagarik Orchid exudes glamour.
