HKFA postponement: Karena Lam pities husband

30 Sep – Karena Lam admitted that she feels sorry for her husband after hearing news that the 40th edition of the Hong Kong Film Awards will be postponed to 2022.

As reported on Mingpao, the actress who was asked about the awards postponement at a brand event on 29 September, stated that she is not affected by the news that the HKFA will be merging the movies released on 2020 and 2021 for the 2022 event, as she never made a movie for the sake of winning awards.

"But I feel sorry for my husband. I am an actor and I can be more laissez-faire about it. As a director, he spent a lot of time on the movie. But he told me that he will respect the decision as there is no way out of it," she said.

It is noted that Karena's husband Steve Yuen is the director for her recently released film, "Declared Legally Dead" - which Karena stars with Anthony Wong.

"I am sure that the HKFA committee have thought this over before making the decision," she added.
