Retreats and getaways are all amazing, but self-care starts where you live. Finding ways to create a comfortable space is how you turn a house into a home. It’s the furniture you lounge on. It’s the way you decorate. It’s also the way your rooms smell. That’s where Hilary Duff can help. The singer, actress, and mother of 3 has officially entered the home fragrance arena as Chief Brand Director of Below 60–a new line of plug-ins that use 100% natural oils.

“I'm a child of the 90s. And I grew up with certain plugins that do not look like this plugin. And I was inspired, you know, we have a busy household… and it's not always that easy to be like ‘I'm lighting the candles, and I'm gonna do some incense, and I'm setting this tone.’ And this [Below 60 plug-in] is something that's going on all the time, if you want it to, and you can change it quickly. And it's effective. And I think as a mother and someone running a household, that's what you're looking for.” Duff told Redbook during a recent press event.

The natural angle is the real kicker here. The home fragrance market is a crowded space with everything from plug-ins to sprays and candles available at nearly every retailer. Sometimes you think you like a scent before realizing the smell is overpowering once you set it up in your room. Those overpowering odors can even lead to headaches because of the chemicals used to create the artificial fragrance.

She added: “We work with three different fragrance houses. They're all 100% natural oils. Which is so cool. Because when I think about oils, I think about lavender and essential oils that are at a spa. And that’s what these are.”

The brand launched with three scents to start: If Citrus Were a Feeling (a mix of grapefruit, lily, and sandalwood), Mint Disco on Ice (a mix of glacial waters, spearmint, and lavender), and Vanilla Buys a Timeshare in Paradise (a mix of pineapple, exotic coconut, and Tahitian vanilla). There will be more coming soon, including seasonal scents like pine for the holidays. You could also be seeing products besides room plug-ins from Below 60 down the road.

The “Come Clean” singer went on to say, “There's a big passion for me right now on figuring out cars because my car smells terrible. My car smells like peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and like soccer socks. And it's tragic. Because I’m still able to drive a cool car and then people would sit in it and be like, ‘What in God's green earth happened in here?’ So I think that would be a fun space to move into.” She also hopes to add a linen spray into Below 60’s offerings.

Diffusers can be purchased on the brand website, where subscribers can have refills shipped out every 3 months.
