Welcome to Take the Edge Off, a series that breaks down the beauty and self-care routines of influencers, CEOs, experts, and celebrities. Find out how they unwind and decompress, while taking a closer look at the holy grail essentials they're currently raving about.

As the consumer marketing director of commerce at Google Shopping, Stephanie Horton wears many (chic) hats, something she's grown accustomed to after previously holding successful positions at other top companies, like Alexander Wang, Shopbop, and Farfetch.

"I've been with Google Shopping for a year and a half now, and started during the pandemic. I was brought over to help shape and communicate shopping on Google, and what that means to the consumer," Horton tells BAZAAR.com. "My background is in retail and e-commerce; prior to this position, I was at Alexander Wang for a couple of years running strategy, marketing, and operations. Prior to that, I was in London for almost six years as CMO of Farfetch."

Horton's commerce experience also extends to Shopbop where she held the position of the company's Head of International. The multi-hyphenate also counts editorial prowess among her many professional achievements, previously working six years as Vogue's head of marketing upon moving to New York City. In her current role as Google Shopping's consumer marketing director of commerce, Horton says she's excited about the impact she's able to make on behalf of the tech company. "We have a lot going on in the form of Google Lens, insights that shed light on consumers’ shopping attitudes, and being able to push things like shock values. Google introduced a Black-owned tab last year, with women-owned, and lots of others to follow," Horton says. "I think we're really getting the word of what shopping on Google means and how to do it. It's been an exciting ride so far."

Here, the consumer marketing director gives BAZAAR.com a closer look at her short list of favorite beauty and wellness essentials, go-to methods for general woosah and relaxation—from Tracy Anderson workouts and rosewater facial spray, to candle making and well-deserved alone time.

What are you reading these days?

I'm a Reese Witherspoon Book Club fan, so I'm currently reading The Club by Ellery Royce—it's so fun. It's about this private island off of England where all these celebrities go, and lots of stuff happens, but it's a great book, she picked well.

What are some of your go-to bath and/or shower products?

I am obsessed with OUAI. They have this Scalp and Body Scrub that's really the best body scrub ever. It's a secret weapon—I use it every other day, and it makes your skin so soft—hopefully people don't go out and buy them all now. I also use a lot of Face Gym rolling and sculpting tools in my face because I'm not a prodigy, I'm older, and they work for me. So, as soon as I get out of the shower, I'm doing all kinds of stuff.

What beauty or self-care products do you use on a regular basis to help combat Google Meet fatigue?

I think I definitely do get fatigue, but I also deal with dryness overall. So, I use the Chantecaille Pure Rosewater spray, which is great. It wakes me up, is really refreshing, and just smells really good. And then, an air purifier and humidifier is my best friend—I actually found mine on Google Shopping.

Do you have a favorite hand sanitizer, soap, and/or cream right now?

I'm obsessed with NOSHINKU hand sanitizers because you can put them in any size purse, there's a nice range of scents, I love them. Someone gave it to me when the pandemic started and I thought, 'Everyone needs these!' They're great. For hand creams, I have a few favorites. The last hand cream I bought was from Jo Malone, and I got it in the Nashville airport—it's really good and moisturizing.

Do you ever light a candle or stick of incense to decompress? If so, what are some of your favorites?

I'm also obsessed with candles. In the middle of the pandemic, I literally made my own—which is currently for sale. During the pandemic, I wanted to find a hobby to help me relax, and I have a friend who makes hand-dipped candles, so I created my own under a brand called S508. The first one is called Do Not Disturb, which features notes of Sandalwood, Lily of the Valley, and Santal—all locally sourced ingredients. It was just something that happened out of the blue.

What was the last beauty product you put on today?

The Joanna Vargas Rescue Serum.

Are you into bold makeup, no makeup, or no-makeup makeup right now, and why?

I would say I'm not a huge makeup person, but I'm definitely not a no makeup-makeup person, so I'd probably fall somewhere in the middle. Right now L'Oréal eyeliner and Fashion Fair's Nudeattude lipstick are among my favorites.

What's the last fitness class you streamed or attended in person?

I typically stream Tracy Anderson classes three times a week, since I haven't fully gotten back into going in-person.

What's one piece of self-care advice you'd recommend to our readers?

I would say definitely just make time for yourself. I make sure every day to do something for at least 30 minutes to an hour. I try and do something just to be in my own space, and in my mind where no one is bothering me. Not secretly checking emails on the side. It’s my time. Sometimes I can get ahead of myself, so that time to focus is really important.
