Heliza Helmi prioritises humanitarian work over talks of marriage

11 Nov- Turning 35 this year, singer-activist Heliza Helmi is not at all concerned that she is still single while friends around her are now married and having their own families.

The singer, who has been busy with her many humanitarian missions, recently told the media at the launch of the Afghanistan Humanitarian Fund Campaign that her focus right now is for her activism as well as her family.

"Honestly, I never thought about marriage and all of that, probably because the daily schedule is packed with various humanitarian activities. So, I am not thinking at all about it," she said.

Heliza did admit that she has been approached about it.

"Of course, it would be a lie for me to say that nobody asked. But I'm thankful that my parents never pressured me about it. If it's meant to be, it will happen."

Heliza also expressed hope that if she were to marry someone, the man in question should be supportive of her humanitarian work.

"He doesn't have to be fully involved as well, just to be encouraging of my work. Will that person be someone that has the same interest as I do? I have no answer for that, because my objective is to help those in need," she added.

On the other hand, when asked about the new campaign, Heliza said that this current mission aims to raise RM2 million to help the people in Afghanistan during the cold winter.

"We would like to help war victims with their food supplies for the upcoming winter. If God wills it, my sister and I are planning to be involved as well," she added.
