“He wanted fame, and then when he got it, he didn’t want it,” filmmaker Matt Amato adds.

Using interviews with members of the actor’s inner circle, Derik Murray’s “I Am Heath Ledger” chronicles the late Australian actor’s life and movie career. In addition to “Brokeback Mountain,” he’s best known for playing the Joker in “The Dark Knight,” for which he won a posthumous best supporting actor Oscar.
