“Head-to-tail” Japanese BBQ joint Yakiniku Gyubei opens 1st overseas outlet in Singapore

Mmmm, yakiniku – juicy, smoky grilled meat with a delicious savoury and sweet sauce. It’s no wonder it’s an incredibly popular concept in Singapore, and another popular Japanese chain is joining the fray: Yakiniku Gyubei, a yakiniku chain with true-zero waste approach, has opened up its first overseas outlet in 100 AM Mall.

Yakiniku Gyubei has over 25 years of experience in the field of grilled meats, and has 22 stores across Japan. They use only meat from cows ethically raised and imported from Kyushu, and the restaurant processes each cow in its entirety, giving a total of 24 different cuts.

The various cuts include short rib, brisket, the rump, chuck eye roll, ribs, sirloin, tenderloin as well as intestine, tripe and tongue.

Lunch sets start from as low as S$12.90, with items like Bibimbap in Hot Stone Bowl (S$12.90) and Grilled Beef Skirt on Rice (S$17.90). “Cook-your-own-lunch” sets start from S$13.90 with a choice of beef rib, pork or chicken thigh, and each is served with salad, rice, a side dish and soup. If you’re feeling a little bit fancier for lunch, there’s the Omakase Lunch for Two (S$100), which offers 6 different kinds of Wagyu, salad, side dishes and a choice of 2 main dishes.

For dinner, the full selection of cuts will be available, as well as an Omakase Yakiniku Course at S$125 per pax, minimum of 2 pax. The courses include a kimchi platter, namul platter, salad, Wagyu nigiri, beef tongue, a Wagyu platter, grilled shrimp, and a choice of main dish.

Yakiniku Gyubei doesn’t just serve meat, though – the menu also includes cold noodles, Wagyu nigiri, Wagyu sashimi, and Korean pancakes. Seafood is also available, such as squid, shrimp and scallops.
