"A Guilty Conscience" breaks HKD 100 million

23 Feb – The Dayo Wong-starrer, "A Guilty Conscience" has recently broke Hong Kong film record by becoming the first movie to break the HKD 100 million mark.

As reported on Mingpao, the movie, which was released on 21 January, has now made HKD 100,017,474 at the box office, surpassing previous record holder, "Warriors of Future", which previously became the highest grossing domestic film with HKD 81.9 million.

Speaking about the movie's success, Dayo stated that he felt like he just won a lottery.

"It feels like I'm floating down from the sky. I want to thank everybody for giving us the chance to have this wonderful feeling," he said.

As of now, the movie is the 11th highest grossing movie in Hong Kong, with the top 10 list dominated by Marvel movies as well as "Titanic" and "Top Gun: Maverick".

The movie marks the debut of screenwriter Ng Wai Lun, who previously worked on the screenplay for movies like "Anita" and "Cold War II". It stars Dayo as Adrian Lam who becomes a defence lawyer after mishandling an abuse case of a woman (Louise Wong).
