Guardians of the Galaxy 2 Director Responds To Aerosmith Frontman Steven Tyler's Plea For Role
‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2’ director James Gunn has responded to rock legend Steven Tyler’s plea for a cameo in a third film in the series.
While too late to make an appearance in 'Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2’ next year, Gunn is certainly open to working with the Aerosmith frontman in the future.

“Yes, I did hear that Steven Tyler wants to be in ‘Guardians of the Galaxy,’” Gunn said in a Facebook Q&A video. “He gave me a shout-out the other day in an interview. He said, ‘James Gunn are you listening?’ The answer is: Steven, yes I am listening. And I’m a big fan of Steven Tyler‘s.
"I had the pleasure of directing his daughter Liv in a movie [2010’s 'Super’] in which she was fantastic, and I met him for a few seconds at a screening of that movie. He’s a cool guy. And of course I would love to work with Steven Tyler sometime.”
Gunn recently wrapped production on ’Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2’. While Marvel Studios hasn’t announced anything officially, should 'Guardians 2’ match or exceed the enormous success of the first film, then a third is a near certainty.
Gunn certainly has an affinity for rock stars. Following the death of David Bowie earlier this year, Gunn revrealed in a heartfelt tribute that he was hoping to get the Starman to cameo in the upcoming sequel.
"I told [studio president Kevin Feige] nothing in the world would make me happier,” he wrote on Facebook, “but I heard from common friends he wasn’t doing well.”
Bowie’s classic Moonage Daydream appeared on the the first film’s incredible soundtrack. In the same post Gunn revealed that another Bowie classic would be appearing on the sequel’s as well.
'Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2’ sees Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper and Vin Diesel return as the titular group, joined this time by Sylvester Stallone and Kurt Russel as Star-Lord’s (Pratt) father.
The film is set for release on 28 April 2017.
