Great Outfits in Fashion History: Pamela Anderson at the 1999 PETA Awards

There are perfectly good celebrity style moments, and then there are the looks that really stick with you, the ones you try desperately to recreate at home. In 'Great Outfits in Fashion History,' Fashionista editors are revisiting their all-time favorite lewks.

Besides reaching icon status as a model and actor, Pamela Anderson will always be remembered for her work as an animal rights activist. She's been a passionate supporter and collaborator of PETA's, and was even honored by the organization in 1999 for her contributions to the cause, including posing for its "Give Fur the Cold Shoulder" campaign, which ran in Times Square.

At the Party of the Century and Humanitarian Awards that year, fellow animal rights supporter Paul McCartney presented Anderson with the inaugural Linda McCartney Memorial Award, in honor of his late wife. All eyes were on Pam — and on her glamorous look.

She wore a strapless gown in a pale, minty hue — a departure from her more famous outfits from the '90s, which often teetered on the edge of moto-chic. This was noticeably softer, a thin layer of gauzy green fabric contrasting against a white base underneath. Her strappy heels, while barely visible, were a similar shade to her gown.
