Gong Li wants to work with Zhang Ziyi despite rumoured rivalry

26 May – Despite continuous rumours about their rivalry, Chinese actress Gong Li revealed that she and fellow actress Zhang Ziyi have always been cordial with each other.

According to Mingpao, Gong Li, who exchanged greetings with Zhang at a fashion show held at the Palace Square in Monaco recently and the Cannes Film Festival to promote her new movie, "Coming Home", stated that rivalry reports about them were not true.

"We are pretty close to each other," said Gong Li, in regards to Zhang, who was also in Cannes to promote her new John Woo movie, "The Crossing".

She added, "I have not worked with Zhang since our collaboration on "Memoirs of Geisha". She is good actress and I do look forward towards opportunities for us to work together."
