Goldie Hawn has a thing for decorating. She has opinions about home design, and one of them is somewhat controversial. There's a particular color the actress believes every room should have in it, and it might surprise you. The hot-button hue is: Red. While red can be divisive and is known as a not-so-great paint color choice for home sellers, the bold pick always makes an impact.
And that's just why Hawn uses it. "I love red in every room," Hawn told Drew and Jonathan Scott during the latest episode of Celebrity IOU. "It just picks up the whole room."
Hawn—who has built multiple homes with her partner Kurt Russell over the years—shared her passion for red early in the episode. But let's not get it twisted: Hawn doesn't want to see all interiors completely color-drenched in shades of red. "Every room needs a splash of red," she said later on. "I mean, it makes everything pop."
As Hawn teamed up with the Scott brothers to give her longtime friend a home makeover centered on a kitchen renovation, she showcased her signature decorating move. She incorporated red-adjacent textiles through banquette seating and living room throw pillows. But that's not all. The color also popped up in a few vases filled with fresh, red flowers placed on top off the kitchen island, and in furniture in the living room.
The rest of the home's color palette is dominated by neutrals: a mix of white and wood kitchen cabinetry, black hardware, and black and white furnishings throughout. Silver and gold accents, such as pendant lights and fixtures, add a touch of glam. Not only does the neutral backdrop make the red accents stand out, but it also makes it easy to swap them out should Hawn's friend want to embrace a different pop of color in the future. Although we wonder if that switch would have Hawn seeing red?
