Gloria Tang is TVB's latest top star in the making?

21 May – Although she seemed to have been heavily promoted by TVB in recent years, Gloria Tang recently dismissed the notion that she is set to be the company's newest "fadan".

As reported on HK01, the former Miss Chinese International 2013 who has three new dramas in 2020 including the currently airing "The Exorcist's 2nd Meter" and the upcoming sequel to "Legal Mavericks", stated that she would rather not pay too much attention to talks about becoming the next big thing.

This despite the fact that she has been starring in many of TVB's hit dramas in recent years, including "The Defected" (2019) and "Barrack O'Karma", as well as 2018's "Another Era". The actress is also currently filming the action series "Armed Reaction 2020".

"All I know is that I like acting very much and I would do my job to the best of my ability. I pay no attention to the voices around me. I just take all the opportunities that come my way," she said.

Gloria stated that no matter whether she is the new "fadan" or not, she will continue to work hard.

"Of course, I wish that there will be more projects to come so that I can try out more and more characters," she added.

The term "fadan" refers to the most popular and the highest paid actresses working in TVB. Among previous "fadan" include Liza Wang, Carina Lau, Ada Choi, Charmaine Sheh, Tavia Yeung, Fala Chen, and Nancy Wu.

Other actresses who have been called the "next generation of fadans" include Sisley Choi, Priscilla Wong, and Rosina Lam.
