Gin Lee elated to receive praise from Sultan of Johor
23 Sep – Gin Lee recently admitted that she is extremely elated to receive recognition from the Sultan of Johor for her achievements abroad.
As reported on Mingpao, the Johor Bahru-born singer, who appeared at a skincare event recently, stated that she was surprised upon being named by the supreme ruler of the state of Johor ten years after she came to Hong Kong to pursue her dreams.
"I never thought that one day I will be praised by the Royal Family back home and that he listens to my songs," she enthused.
Asked if she will be returning to Malaysia soon, Gin stated that she has tried her best to attend as many events as she can in her hometown, but that the pandemic has made it difficult for her to do so.
Last week, Johor Ruler Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar thanked Gin and "The Daily Show with Trevor Noah" correspondent Ronnie Chieng for their outstanding achievements on the global stage - stating that the two have brought glory to Johor in their own way.
"I believe Johor has many talents who have yet to be found and nurtured. Let them be an example and inspiration of what Johor can achieve, and also spur our own local arts and entertainment scene to greater heights," he said.
