Gigi Wong denies turning her back on TVB

24 Jun – Hong Kong actress and hostess Gigi Wong has dismissed the notion of her betraying TVB by hosting a new culinary show with rival network, ViuTV.

As reported on Mingpao, the actress, who is set to host ViuTV's new show "Cooking GiGi", shared that she is not deliberately turning her back on TVB, having hosted a similar show called "Eating Well with Madam Wong" with the company in the past.

"To tell you the truth, if you pay any attention, you will realise I only shoot TVB dramas produced by Poon Ka Tak. The two TVB dramas I've done most recently ["As Time Goes By" and "My Commissioned Lover"] were produced by him. But he has retired now, so no one [from TVB] will approach me to do a drama again," she said.

Gigi continued to praise the former TVB producer, saying that Poon was the only person who knew her the most, saying, "Whenever he approached me for a project, he would tell me how many scenes I will do, and how important the role is in the whole storyline. He knows I don't have a lot of time to shoot a lot of scenes."

"I am not turning my back on TVB. It's just ViuTV knew my situation and used the opportunity to invite me to do cooking shows," she added.

The actress also stressed that she has no qualms working with TVB again in the future if the company has the right project for her.
