Gigi Leung performs to raise funds for construction workers

3 Sep – Gigi Leung is happy that her recent online concert - which was held to raise funds for construction workers affected by the pandemic - went well despite it being planned in just a short while.

As reported on Mingpao, the singer who seemed nervous as she opened the show, stated that she is grateful that the weather was fine despite the previous typhoon warning, which enabled her and the team to continue with the show.

"The music and production team cherished this opportunity very much. Due to the pandemic, the music industry has been greatly affected. Many performances have been cancelled. I was so moved to see everybody today," she added.

As to why she decided to do the show despite the limited time, Gigi said, "The houses, roads, and gutters were built by these construction workers who worked so hard under the scorching sun. They need help during the pandemic and we must help them. Some even contracted COVID-19 as they had to work outdoors. I hope that this concert will raise awareness among the public to the difficulties faced by these workers so that everybody can assist them."

On the other hand, in line with the environmentally-friendly theme, all the staff brought their own water bottles to the site to reduce plastic waste.
