Gigi Lai's company makes HKEx debut

13 Jan - Former actress turned businesswoman Gigi Lai is entering another level of success with the debut of her company, Miricor Enterprises Holding Limited on the Hong Kong Growth Express Market (HKEx).

As reported on Mingpao News, the actress, who is also the CEO of Miricor, recently appeared at the HKEx headquarters in Central to attend the opening ceremony, joined by her parents and younger brother Stephen Lai.

"I am ecstatic!" said Gigi when asked on her thoughts about the company's success. "I haven't slept much last night because I was so excited. This is a once in a lifetime thing!"

When asked if her staff will now refer to her as Chairwoman Ma, Gigi laughed and replied, "Gigi will suffice!"

As for her brother Stephen Lai, who is the original creator of Gigi's cosmetic business, the actress said that he is so happy and in tears while watching the ceremony.

"He knows he can no longer operate his own clinic, so he wants me to inherit his spirit and stubbornness for medical beauty," she added.

Stephen left his business to Gigi back in 2007 after his near-fatal car accident left him wheelchair-bound.

Anger mounts over China's response to deadly car attack
STORY: China's government faced mounting anger Wednesday over its handling of the deadly car attack there earlier in the week - and appeared to be taking steps to limit news of the incident. On Monday, a man drove into a crowd at a sports center, killing 35 and injuring 43. But the government took nearly a day to announce the death toll, and the incident has been little reported by state media.
