Gigi Hadid launched her knitwear fashion line Guest in Residence today, after first announcing the news she was working on her own brand earlier this month.

The launch event took place on Tuesday at the L'Avenue at Saks in New York City, which saw the supermodel-turned-fashion designer joined by her younger sister Bella, the fellow runway regular's boyfriend Marc Kalman and their dad Mohamed Hadid.

Gone Girl star Emily Ratajkowski was also pictured at the event.

The Next in Fashion host showed off her fashion credentials in a cream corset which she layered over an unbuttoned pink shirt and oversized white trousers. She continued the Barbiecore-esque look with a tonal micro bag and pointed pumps.

Of course, Hadid is operating on US time, so her brand page still says 'coming soon'.

Ahead of the launch, Hadid shared multiple posts teasing the collection, and her latest highlighted the ethical ethos behind her brand.

Accompanying an image of her lounging in pieces from the fashion line was a long caption that read: 'We are Guest(s) in Residence of the clothes we own- they have had a life before us, and hopefully, if we take care of them, a life after us.. We are guests in residence of our physical bodies, of the homes we live in, and of this planet.. A “Guest in Residence”, to me, is also someone who is at home in themselves [sic].'

The mum-of-one's debut collection was designed for her 'favourite kinds of people … the ones that make an effort to show up at any door, land in any country, sit down at any table, with a sense of comfort, and a wonder for the people in front of them and the world around them', as she explained.

She continued: 'With all this in mind, we have created pieces for you to take on life with — from the most vivid adventures, to the most quiet moments.. [sic].'

The 27-year-old's dad sweetly commented: 'You are magical my child.'

Hadid explained that her motivation behind creating the collection came from questioning the current cashmere market.

Referring to her quest to make cashmere more accessible in a previous post, Hadid wrote: 'We encourage investment in quality pieces at a more reasonable price, and a wardrobe that can grow and change with your style, that can endure life with you, and that can become heirlooms. Made to love and to last.'

During the days leading up to the launch, the 'founder, creative director, and lover of all-things-cozy' posted behind-the-scenes footage of the collection:

Supermodel, actor, TV host and mother Gigi Hadid can now add fashion designer to her list of achievements, as she's just announced her fashion line: Guest in Residence.

The 27-year-old revealed the news to her 75.2 million Instagram followers, sharing a carousel of photos that showed her busy at work creating her knitwear line.

In the first photo, the runway regular picks out swatches for her collection with her team, and they are later shown reviewing product samples.

Other images reveal a range of fabrics and knitwear, with the final photo seemingly showing Hadid doubling up as designer and fit model when trying on the collection in front of a full-length mirror.

She captioned the photos: 'Been workin on something …. with love, @guestinresidence [sic].

Her fellow model sister Bella commented: 'What we’ve all been waiting for [sic].'

Hailey Bieber, who herself if the founder of skincare line Rhode, commented: 'So excited about this [sic].'

Award-winning chef Sophie Roe simply wrote: 'AHHHHHHH [sic].'

Designer Joseph Altuzarra gushed: 'Yayyyyyy!!!! So excited [sic].'

Hadid has updated her Instagram bio to read: 'Founder, creative director @guestinresidence.'

The mum to one-year-old daugther Khai, who she shares with ex-boyfriend Zayn Malik, has 'Khai's mum' at the very top of her bio.

In April, Hadid announced that she had collaborated on a swimwear line with Frankies Bikinis, founded by her childhood friend Francesca Aiello.

This came after Frankies previously teased the project.

The pair grew up together in Malibu, California and took inspiration from their friendship for the capsule.

'We designed this collection with so much love, and I believe that really shines through in the details,' Gigi said in a statement.

'Both Frank and I have very social lives but also are big homebodies, and the collection really embodies that side of us.'

The soft colour, subtle prints and flowing silhouettes nod to Hadid's family home in Pennsylvania.

'The collection is rooted in friendship and inspired by Gigi's care-free days at her family's dreamy countryside home, full of sentiment and nostalgia,' read a statement on Frankies Bikini's Instagram post.

Hadid's motherhood journey also inspired the collection.

The 'Fawn' depicting a baby and mother deer indicates Hadid's 'joy' as a first time mum.

'Gigi is someone that is so special and so inspiring to me,' Aiello gushed in the release.

'She is creative, hard working, kind and loving, and combining those incredible personality traits with our deep rooted friendship is what really made this collection not only fun to create together but also to shoot together.'

The 98-piece collection was released with a first drop on May 11 and a final one on June 2.

Back in January, we learned Hadid would be teaming up with Tan France to co-host season two of TV show Next In Fashion, replacing Alexa Chung.

The news was shared via both Hadid and France's Instagram, with a photo of the pair and an accompanying caption that read: 'Who would have thought when we met over Facetime 4 years ago (thanks @evachen212) that we’d be hosting NEXT IN FASHION TOGETHER!

'You read that right! The secret’s out. You better get ready, casting is now open at netflixreality.com/NIF [sic].'

We have a feeling Hadid's latest business venture will set the tone for more things to come.
