How ‘Ghostbusters’ Star Leslie Jones Got a Job as a Scientology Telemarketer (Video)

Between “Ghostbusters” and “Saturday Night Live,” 2016 has been a good year for comedian Leslie Jones.

But during a chat Wednesday on “Ellen,” Jones revealed that she had quite the odd job before she made it big in entertainment: she worked as a telemarketer for the Church of Scientology.

“Yeah, they kinda still don’t know I’m not a Scientologist,” she said when Ellen DeGeneres asked her about her previous job. “Thanks for blowing my cover, Ellen!”

Jones appeared alongside her “Ghostbusters” co-stars Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, and Kate McKinnon, the latter of whom edged away from Jones on the couch when she confirmed who her previous employer was. “I have no association with this woman,” McKinnon quipped.

Jones said that getting the job was a breeze. “I lived in Glendale (California). I needed to pay the rent, and it was a very easy interview. I just acted crazy. Oh my God, I’m sorry, Scientologists, for revealing things.”

Meanwhile, McKinnon said that she worked as a Little League softball umpire before getting her big break, admitting that she “should have brushed up on the rules for softball before litigating them.”

Then Wiig came up with the best early job of them all: “I was an umpire for a Scientology baseball team. Every time I was like, ‘It’s safe! It’s fine!'”

“Ghostbusters” hits theaters on July 15.
