What's next for Ginny and Georgia?
The runaway Netflix hit's second season debuted this week and quickly took over social media thanks to it's over-the-top storylines and binge-worthy core plot. The latest season of the series takes a darker turn with Ginny dealing with the emotional repercussions of learning her mother is a murderer and holding in a secret that could destroy the entire livelihood of her family. By the season's end, Georgia has another murder on her hands, and is taken away in handcuffs by police moments after marrying Paul Randolph, her new husband and the town mayor, with Ginny and her brother Austin having no idea what comes next. It's truly the last thing that Ginny is hoping to deal with after finally making peace with her mother's past, enduring her first heartbreak, and accepting her new family dynamic. The season 2 finale left us with the ultimate cliffhanger, which has fans clamoring for another season of the popular series. But will there be a season 3? Here's what we know so far.
Has Ginny & Georgia been renewed for a third season?
Yes! Netflix announced recently that the hit series was renewed for a third and fourth season.
What would Season 3 be about?
Season 3 would ultimately pick up where season 2 left off, which would see Georgia potentially in jail (or let out on bail due to her status as the mayor's wife) and facing a major court battle over the death of Tom Fuller— which will surely affect Georgia's newfound friendship with his widow, Cynthia. Austin's father Gil has also all but promised to make Georgia's life a living hell in response to her framing him and putting him in jail years back and which will ultimately affect the family's livelihood in Wellsbury as well.
Per Tudum, the upcoming seasons will feature “new hurdles, new relationships and new challenges” thrown at Ginny and Georgia “in a way we haven’t seen before on the show.”
“When we had to develop the storyline for Season 2, we knew exactly what we wanted Season 3 to be,” the show's creator Sarah Lampert previously told Tudum. “Georgia needed to kill someone and she needed to kill someone in Wellsbury, Massachusetts.”
When would Season 3 premiere?
It could be 1-2 years if we're basing off the wait from Season 1 to 2. But depending on the demand for the series, we might be back in Wellsbury sooner than later.
