GEM Tang ranked 34th in BBC 100 Women

26 Nov – GEM Tang recently became the only Chinese singer to have been listed in the 2018 BBC's 100 Women list.

As reported on Epoch Times, the singer has been ranked 34th place in the list, which celebrates "inspiring and influential women" from around the world.

Said BBC, "G.E.M. is a top-selling female musician who uses her influence to support charities and organisations dedicated to music, education and poverty."

GEM also took to social media to express her happiness with the honour.

She wrote, "Being including in the BBC 100 women of 2018 is just so flattering! I received the news just as I woke up from the sweet dreams of performing at NASA."

"November must be my lucky month, and I should sing 'Enough Guys, it's my time'! It's time for girls to stand up, Girls, IT'S OUR TIME," she added.

Aside from being one of the most popular young artistes of her time, GEM was also the inspiration behind MARVEL icon Stan Lee's last superhero, "Jewel".

She is also the founder of "Rhythm of Childhood", a public benefit campaign that raises funds for building music classrooms and playgrounds for rural children.

Among other women listed include British actress, activist and "The Good Place" star Jameela Jamil, Filipina model-presenter Joey Mead King, and Malaysia's Sharia Law judge, Nenney Shushaidah.
