Gary Condit to Appear on Dr. Phil, Discuss Chandra Levy Murder

Fifteen years after Chandra Levy’s infamous disappearance, Gary Condit is talking about it with Dr. Phil.

The former congressman will join Dr. Phil McGraw on his daytime talk show this Thursday (check local listings), the show announced Monday. Condit, if you remember, was initially a suspect in the 2001 disappearance of Levy, a former intern of Condit’s who was found dead the following year. Condit denied having any romantic connection with Levy.

Condit was never charged, and an illegal immigrant named Ingmar Guandique was convicted of Levy’s murder in 2010. But Guandique won a new trial on appeal and prosecutors declined to retry him, setting him free and leaving the case unsolved.

In his chat with Dr. Phil, Condit addresses the rumors of a romantic relationship with Levy, and describes how he’s been hounded by press and the public: “As I would walk through the airport, people would walk up to me and ask, ‘Where did you hide the body?’ or yell across the room at me ‘Murderer!'”
