Gao Yunxiang has been released on bail

2 Jul – Chinese actor Gao Yunxiang has recently been awarded bail in his sexual assault case.

As reported on Mingpao, the court announced last week that the actor has been granted a AUD 3 million bail with several strict conditions, including that he and his family have to hand over their passports and to report himself to the police twice a day.

He also has to wear an ankle monitoring device, avoid from going within 100 metres of Sydney International Airport, to have a 9pm to 5am curfew, and to not be in contact with any prosecution witnesses.

Justice Lucy McCallum stated that the bail was granted after considering several factors - whether or not Gao will abscond, and whether his release on bail will endanger his victim.

Gao was filming in Sydney, Australia late March when he was arrested by the police over allegations that he, along with another man named Wang Jing, has sexually assaulted a local Chinese woman.

On the other hand, it was reported that the actor will not be released immediately, and that the whole procedure will take about seven to ten days.
