Galaxy Unpacked: Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6, Flip6, Watch Ultra, Watch7, Buds 3 Pro & Galaxy Ring revealed
Wow. I have used every Samsung Fold since the Fold2 but the Galaxy Fold6 is by far the best. We got our hands on the Galaxy Fold6 and Galaxy Flip6 last night at the Galaxy Unpacked event.
Apart from the phones, Samsung also unveiled the Galaxy Watch Ultra, Galaxy Watch7 & Galaxy Ring.
Galaxy Z Fold6: Pocket Powerhouse
At 239 grams, the Galaxy Z Fold6 is lighter and slimmer than its predecessor, the Galaxy Z Fold5, making it more pocketable and comfortable to hold. In fact, it’s only 7g heavier than the single-screen Samsung S24 Ultra!
Before I get into more tech specs, let me just say that the new more squarish form factor is just… hold-able. Samsung has shaved quite a bit off the dimensions, making their latest and greatest foldable just 5.6mm thin! You have to get your hands on one to understand how much better it feels.
An upgraded Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor delivers significant performance enhancements, with an 18% improvement in CPU performance, a 19% boost in GPU, and a remarkable 42% increase in NPU capabilities. Get set for smoother multitasking, faster processing, and an overall enhanced user experience.
The camera setup on the Galaxy Z Fold6 is truly impressive. The front/cover camera boasts a 10MP sensor, while the main screen features a hidden 4MP under-display camera for seamless viewing. The rear camera system includes a 50MP wide-angle camera, a 12MP ultra-wide camera, and a 10MP telephoto camera.
Despite having the same 4400mAh battery as the Galaxy Z Fold5, the advanced processor in the Galaxy Z Fold6 allows for more efficient power usage. Squeeze up to 77 hours of music playback or up to 23 hours of video on a single charge.
Clumsy hands? The Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 and Armor Aluminum frame will give you peace of mind. There is also an upgrade from the IPX8 of last year’s model to an IP48 rating for water and dust resistance.
The screen hits a peak brightness of 2600 nits, blowing away the 1750 nits of its predecessor. With ray tracing on board, the Fold6 is the ultimate mobile gaming machine.
The Samsung Galaxy Fold6 is available in Silver Shadow, Pink, and Navy, as well as Crafted Black and White. Our Crafted Black review unit has an integrated textured back that elevates this ultra-premium phone to a solid 10.
Galaxy Z Flip6: Compact & Chic
The Galaxy Z Flip6 continues the Flip tradition of putting a full load of features and one-and-a-half screens in the literal palm of your hand. It’s the most elegant rendition of the smaller foldable yet and packs a punch worthy of its lineage.
Despite the smaller size, it shares the same powerful Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 as the Fold6 for outsized power and advanced AI features. We have been playing with our review unit and found the interface especially smooth and responsive, both for everyday tasks and intensive applications.
In keeping with the Flip’s cheeky, playful vibe, Samsung is releasing the Flip6 in 7 colours, including some especially vibrant ones.
But behind the carefree exterior is a beast of a camera array. At the forefront is the 50MP wide shooter with 2X optical zoom. A 12MP Ultra Wide rounds off the package for reliably detailed shots, even at a distance.
Despite being considerably smaller than the Fold6, the Flip6 has a battery that’s just a fraction smaller at 4000mAh. Coupled with the efficiency of the Snapdragon processor, this delivers juice for almost an entire 24 hours of video watching.
Both models showcase Samsung’s status as the leader in foldable smartphones. Whether you crave the giant display you’ll find in the Fold6 or the compact elegance inherent in the Flip6, Samsung is clearly the place to be.
