Gaile Lok and Shu Qi congratulate Leon Lai for baby's birth
1 May – Leon Lai's former girlfriend Shu Qi and his ex-wife Gaile Lok recently congratulated the singer for the birth of his first baby.
As reported on Mingpao, Gaile, who attended a Charlotte Tilbury party in Hong Kong last week, stated that she has already sent a short message to Leon to express her joy for him for being a new parent.
"Leon and his partner will be busy taking care of their newborn, so I don't think a visit would be appropriate. We will send a gift later," said the actress, who is now married to businessman Ian Chu.
On the other hand, Shu, who appeared at a different fashion event, said that she will formally send her congratulatory wishes to Leon through her representative.
As to the controversy surrounding the news of the birth (in which the information about the baby's premature birth was leaked to the media), Shu said that she does sympathise with Leon and his partner.
"Although artistes are public figures, they should have the right to their own privacy," she said.
Her view was echoed by Gaile, who said, "The birth of a baby should be a happy occasion. It should not be tainted with negativity."
