G-Dragon appointed visiting professor by KAIST

6 Jun – Korean rapper G-Dragon is adding another notch to his belt as he accepted the offer of becoming a visiting professor at the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST).

The news was announced by KAIST on 5 June, stating that they have appointed G-Dragon, real name Kwan Ji-yong, as a visiting professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering and that they have delivered the appointment letter at the 'Innovate Korea 2024' event in Daejeon.

G-Dragon's appointment as a visiting professor is for two years, until June 2026. During this period, he will give a special lecture on leadership for undergraduate and graduate students at KAIST. He also plans to provide KAIST students with the artistic experiences necessary to grow into creative and convergent talents through cultural events, and also share his experience and life as a world-class artiste.

KAIST announced on this day that G-Dragon has also been appointed as a 'global ambassador' and will participate in KAIST's overseas promotion.

Said the BIG BANG member, "Artificial intelligence work is increasing in the field of music as well, and these cutting-edge technologies enable more diverse forms of creative work. It is an honour to be a visiting professor at KAIST, which produces many scientific geniuses, and is the best science and technology expert. I hope that a great synergy like 'Big Bang' will occur when the fields of academics and entertainment meet."
