Fred Cheng doesn't regret missing "Daddy Cool"

25 Apr – "Everything has its timing."

That's the response given by Fred Cheng when addressing recent reports about the reason why he was supposedly replaced by Carlos Chan in the TVB drama, "Daddy Cool".

As reported on Mingpao, the singer who spoke about the issue recently, admitted that he had a talk with producer Amy Wong during the pre-production stage, back when his relationship with Stephanie Ho sparked a backlash from netizens.

"She was worried that I was under great psychological pressure. She was still casting for the role at the time, and I wasn't fully committed to it. She told me to take it easy, take some rest and start over," said Fred.

He admitted that at the same time, he didn't want his personal issues affecting the drama, which is why the cooperation didn't come through.

"But Amy did arrange for me to sing the theme song. I was very touched," he said.

"Everything has its timing. We will wait for another chance next time," he added.

When asked if it was worthwhile to sacrifice his career for his relationship, Fred stated that things happen in life.

"Such is life, it's a long road. There are a lot of things that you can't control. In this journey, you have to look at what you can learn and grow from it. If you regret things you did in the past, you will not be able to progress," he said.
