Fraudsters in Jin Dong fake live broadcast arrested

24 Jul – Jin Dong recently expressed thanks to the police for having successfully arrested the fraudsters whom cheated thousands of yuans of his fan's money.

As reported on NetEase, back in September last year, a Shanghai citizen surnamed Wang filed a report to the Jing'an Public Security Bureau, saying that his 60-year-old mother lost RMB 200,000 to a scammer who posed as the actor.

Mr. Wang stated that his mother had transferred the money to the fake Jin Dong as part of his supposed public welfare projects, after joining a "Jing Dong live broadcast" chatroom every day.

Following the story, Jin Dong's agency quickly released a statement the following month (in October), saying that the actor has never opened an account on the platform, and that they will pursue the case via legal means.

And it looks like the investigation has now completed with the arrest of the people involved, as Jin took to social media and wrote, "The Shanghai police's investigation and handling are impressive. Poor supervision of online platforms is not to be blamed. I hope you can come up with more practical and effective measures and methods!"
