Francis Ng is licensed to fly
2 Sep – "Triumph in the Skies II" actor Francis Ng recently admitted to rumours saying that he is a licensed pilot, not unlike his character in the series, Captain Samuel Tong.
Sina website reported that a tabloid stated that the actor fell in love with his role as a pilot in the original series released in 2003 and decided to obtain his own piloting license in real life.
While speaking to the media on 31 August, the actor admitted that he is indeed licensed to fly a helicopter, but clarified that it can only be used in mainland China and not Hong Kong.
The actor explained, "Two years ago, a mainland company asked me to become a spokesperson for their helicopters. I was really interested that I spent a month to obtain the license to become a helicopter pilot."
However, Francis added that it has been too long since he manned a helicopter and may need more training to fly one himself.
Meanwhile, when told about Francis' license to fly, good friend Julian Cheung stated, "I knew about it but I'm not jealous. I am scared of heights!"
