Fossil Group Poaches Adidas and Salomon Executives for C-Suite Roles

Fossil Group is looking to the footwear industry for its next leaders.

According to the Texas-based accessories company, it has hired Adidas alum Joe Martin as chief commercial officer and Salomon alum Antonio Carriero as chief digital information officer and general manager EMEA.

The company added that both of these appointments underscore Fossil’s “commitment to driving a successful business turnaround, returning the company to profitable growth, and creating long-term shareholder value.” Martin will start in his role on Feb. 17, while Carriero will start on Feb. 12.

Martin, who has spent over 10 years at Adidas, will now oversee Fossil’s global revenue-generating activities, the company said. He most recently served as senior vice president of North American wholesale, team services and omni operations and marketplace at the Three Stripes. Prior to his role at Adidas, Martin held sales leadership roles at various companies, including 3M.

“I am thrilled to join an iconic global brand like Fossil,” Martin said in a statement. “I look forward to serving our people, our business, and building long-term value for our stakeholders across the globe.”

As for Carriero, he will be responsible for overseeing Fossil’s global technology strategy, operations, cybersecurity, and the development of future capabilities, the company said. In addition to his global technology leadership, Carriero will lead the commercial business for the company’s EMEA region.

Carriero joins Fossil from Salomon parent company Amer Sports. He most recently served as chief digital and information officer at Salomon. Prior to that, held senior leadership roles in digital and technology at Breitling SA and Richemont Group.

“Having dedicated much of my career to the watch and jewelry industries, I am excited to join Fossil as chief digital officer and general manager of EMEA,” Carriero said. “I have a deep connection to this industry and its rich legacy, and I look forward to collaborating with talented teams to accelerate growth, drive meaningful impact, and shape the next chapter of our journey together.”

Martin and Carriero join Fossil Group just months after the company pulled yet again from the footwear industry for its top leader. In September, Fossil Group named former Salomon CEO Franco Fogliato as its chief executive. Fogliato stepped down from his role at Salomon in April after nearly three years at the helm.
