Cardamom vodka sounds perfect for autumnCooper King

Autumn has well and truly hit and it’s making us reach for all things cosy and festive, including adding warming spices in our food and drink, so the new Black Cardamom Vodka from Cooper King Distillery has come at the perfect time.

Distilled in Yorkshire using premium black cardamom the vodka has a slightly smoky, citrusy and eucalyptus taste, a unique twist on what is usually a neutral tasting spirit.

According to the brand, it’s great elevated in a classic vodka tonic drink and apparently makes for a winning Bloody Mary if that’s your thing. We think it would make the perfect partner to many of these festive drinks, like our Spiced Apple Ginger cocktail, or why not infuse it further and try your hand at our Christmas pudding vodka recipe to make it even more special when Christmas arrives.

The vodka itself is presented in a beautiful lightweight bottle made from 55% recycled glass and sealed with a home-compostable cellulose tamper which will biodegrade in your home compost in 12 weeks.

Chris Jaume, Co-Founder of Cooper King Distillery says: “We used black cardamom in our vodka as their flavour adds a complex and intense taste. It is amazingly fragrant, with notes of smoke (originating from the pods being dried over a fire pit after harvesting), menthol and eucalyptus. This combination stands itself apart from green cardamom vodkas on the market, which are sweeter and citrus heavy."

He adds: "The Black Cardamom Vodka works beautifully in a Bloody Mary (one of my favourite cocktails), as the soft smoke adds depth of flavour, whilst the menthol adds a cooling and refreshing kick”

Cooper King’s Black Cardamom Vodka (40% ABV) is priced at £39.99 for a 70cl bottle, available from Selfridges and the brand have shared their Cardamom Bloody Mary recipe for you to try at home.
