Five new TVB dramas frozen indefinitely
30 Dec - Rumours are rife that five upcoming TVB dramas have been frozen indefinitely by the company.
According to HK Channel, in his attempt to revamp the company, TVB Group CEO Mark Lee has decided to broadcast more mainland dramas instead of airing some of the dramas that are already finished.
These dramas are Flora Chan's comeback series, "Watch Out Boss", Tavia Yeung and Roger Kwok's "The Last Healer in Forbidden City", Helena Law and Sharon Chan's "Come With Me", Kenneth Ma's "Rogue Emperor", and Myolie Wu's "Rosy Business 3: No Reserve" - the latter which has been kept away for the last three years.
Although these dramas took millions of dollars to make, the company reportedly will try to recuperate the loss by airing more mainland dramas, especially since last year's mainland import, "The Empress of China" had the highest ratings when it aired on TVB, surpassing other dramas including the big budget projects, "Captain of Destiny" and "Lord of Shanghai".
It was reported that TVB has already bought the broadcasting right to mainland's supernatural series, "WuXin The Monster Killer", starring Elvis Han and Gina Jin.
When asked to respond to rumours about this indefinite halt, "Rogue Emperor" star Kenneth Ma stated, "This is unproven. I will not make any comment."
On the other hand, "Come With Me" star, Sharon Chan stated that she has heard about the rumours.
"It's a pity if it's not aired. But as an actress, there is nothing I can do. I will respect the company's decision."
