First trailer for Ewan McGregor's new movie with his daughter Clara
The emotional first trailer for father-daughter duo Ewan and Clara McGregor's Bleeding Love has been released.
The pair will bring a complicated father-daughter dynamic to the big screen in the Emma Westenberg-directed film, as an estranged father (Ewan) and his daughter (Clara) go on a road trip.
A first look at the film's trailer gives a first glimpse of the lead characters as they hit the road to Sante Fe, forced to confront their fractured relationship as the father tries to be there for his daughter.
The story takes a dark turn as the father yells at his daughter for drinking, shouting: "12 hours ago, 12 hours ago you OD'd."
"Trust me, this path you're on is not worth it," he continues over shots of his daughter's childhood interspersed with their trip. "I've been there, and my life started to slip away," Ewan's character reveals, ordering a drink for himself at a bar.
"I didn't really know what it meant to be a father, but I would like to get to know you," he adds, as Clara's character asks how she could "ever trust" her absent father.
The trailer ends with Ewan belting out a version of Leona Lewis' hit song 'Bleeding Love'.
Bleeding Love had its world premiere at SXSW in 2023 and is set for release in the US on February 16. A UK release date has not yet been confirmed.
As well as Ewan and Clara, the film also stars Guiding Light's Kim Zimmer, The Good Nurse star Devyn McDowell, NCIS actor Sasha Alexander, It Follows' Jake Weary, and About That Life star Vera Bulder.
The film was written by Ruby Caster from a story by Clara McGregor as well as Ruby and Bulder. Clara and Ewan are also among the executive producers on the project.
An official synopsis for Bleeding Love reads: "Starring real-life father and daughter Ewan and Clara McGregor, Bleeding Love is a gritty, emotional tale about healing familial wounds through re-connection. After a drastic incident in her life, a young woman (Clara) embarks on an impromptu road trip with her estranged father (Ewan).
"En route to their destination of Santa Fe, New Mexico, the two are forced to confront the issues of their past that have led to their frail relationship, while encountering an eccentric array of characters along the way, in order to bring them closer together again."
Bleeding Love will be released in the US on February 16, with a UK release date yet to be confirmed.
