First looks: COS Spring Summer 2019 collection
Minimalist brand COS continue to stay true to their ethos design, concentrating on sleek and clean lines – moving forward to 2019, the Spring Summer collection will reflect the movement and qualities of natural elements water and air.
The texture and performance of the fabrics are central to the design: luminous and sheer combinations of ripstop are inspired by refractions of light while fluid moiré invokes liquidity.
The collection is framed by an unexpected colour palette that reflects these themes. A spectrum of blues – ranging from air to ocean, indigo and midnight – complemented with the calm of pure white, butter and stone and set against darker colours of heather, storm grey, Bordeaux and deep brown.
For womenswear, silk parachute-like shapes are contrasted with functional elements such as button fastenings and adjustable belts allowing the wearer to play on proportions. A voluminous cotton poplin dress and high-shine skirt are defined by asymmetrical features, the classic polo shirt is reimagined in a light knitted mesh and a draped cotton top is designed to be worn in eight different ways.
Key accessories include straight-cut bucket to wide-brim sunhat and slip-on shoes that can be worn as a slipper or a mule. The collection’s sterling silver jewellery also reflects white fluid elements, that seemingly mimic water movement.
